Originally proposed in 1986 by Ford Aerospace to provide mobile satellite communications services to automobiles, Globalstar has evolved into a world-spanning wireless mobile and fixed voice, data, messaging and facsimile telecommunications system. Globalstar expects to commence the progressive rollout of commercial service in the third quarter of 1999.

As a limited partnership, our purpose is to apply the proven technological strengths and business experience of our partner companies to a market with massive -- and largely unmet -- demand. That market is the entire world's population. And we intend to serve it with low-cost, reliable satellite and wireless communication to and from locations in both developed and developing countries, any hour of the day or night. Globalstar will sell access to a worldwide network of regional and local service providers, including its strategic partners.

Globalstar's service providers and partners have agreed to conduct operations in over 120 countries. Each service provider will have exclusive rights to offer Globalstar services, obtain all necessary regulatory approvals and own and operate the gateways necessary to serve their respective markets.
